On-Demand format
In Modules 5-8, the Simple View of Reading is revisited focusing on reading comprehension. Learners will determine if reading comprehension problems are a result of word-reading problems, language problems, or both. Critical skills needed for language comprehension are presented, as well as the situation model and its effects on reading comprehension. Intervention-oriented assessment is described and defined. Phonological skills and assessment of phonological skills are presented. Letter-sound skills and phonics skills are assessed using nonsense word reading. Assessments for reading identification, word recognition, and reading fluency are described.
