In our previous webinar, with Monica Washington we learned how social emotional learning (SEL) and culturally responsive teaching (CRT) can be incorporated into strategies that are inclusive, improve instruction, and support students. In this webinar CDE staff will facilitate a discussion with a panel of educators and experts who are doing this work The panel and participants to explore how we can support culturally responsive student choice, and student voice in instructional practices. How to build a caring classroom and school community with strong positive relationships with the community and students. Finally, we will examine how the Colorado Academic Standards and curriculum can support CRT and SEL.
We will explore the following questions during the webinar:
- How do you see SEL and CRT working together to inform teaching practices?
- Share specific strategies or activities that you have used to support student voice and choice in your teaching?
- What specific strategies have you used to build a caring school community and strong positive relationships?
